  • Even if you’re not suffering from a mental health problem, regular physical activity can still offer a welcome boost to your mood, outlook and mental well-being.

    Exercise can help provide:

    Sharper memory and thinking
    The same endorphins that make you feel better also help you concentrate and feel mentally sharp for tasks at hand. Exercise also stimulates the growth of new brain cells and helps prevent age-related decline.

    Higher self-esteem
    Regular activity is an investment in your mind, body, and soul. When it becomes habit, it can foster your sense of self-worth and make you feel strong and powerful. You’ll feel better about your appearance and, by meeting even small exercise goals, you’ll feel a sense of achievement.

    Better sleep
    Even short bursts of exercise in the morning or afternoon can help regulate your sleep patterns. If you prefer to exercise at night, relaxing exercises such as yoga or gentle stretching can help promote sleep.

    More energy
    Increasing your heart rate several times a week will give you more get-up-and-go. Start off with just a few minutes of exercise per day, and increase your workout as you feel more energized.

    Stronger Resilience
    When faced with mental or emotional challenges in life, exercise can help you build resilience and cope in a healthy way, instead of resorting to alcohol, drugs, or other negative behaviors that ultimately only make your symptoms worse. Regular exercise can also help boost your immune system and reduce the impact of stress.

  • Mindful eating would make this question unnecessary. Ask yourself "Am I hungry?" If you're not, do you really want it? Do you really, really want it? Do you really, really, really want it - then go for it and enjoy!

    Diets contribute to 70% of weight loss compared to exercise which is 30%. Here are some key tips to help you understand how to get a more effective healthy eating plan.

    💪 Protein is the building blocks of our body, it helps to fight infections and to build and repair tissue
    🥜 Fats help to fuel aerobic exercise and help with bodily function
    🍝 Carbs are the body's main source of energy and are used during short and heavy exercises

  • Running is one of the best activities for fitness and weight loss but remember if all you do is run, you can Plateau or in other words level out and slow down your progress towards whatever goal you are aiming for. My BootCamp added to your run will get you through a Plateau.

    If your muscles aren't pushed with weight bearing exercise they won't develop as strongly as they should, hampering your running (the muscles will tire before your heart and lungs halting your progress) plus the interval training effect of my BootCamp, also maintains a metabolism burn long after your session is finished.

    In short, think of fitness and weight loss in an actual whole body way and aim to work the whole body. My Thursday night BootCamp sessions are different each session so it challenges the body each time.
    Make a note to yourself, 'Vary my training to reach my goals
