Let’s talk skin care. I’ve got really sensitive skin which is prone to bad breakouts. I can’t remember a time when I had totally clear skin. I don’t use any harsh lotions and potions on my face and I don’t wear make-up. My usual skin care regime has been, for years, to wash with warm water using Simple face wash, followed up with using the Simple toner and completing with the Simple moisturiser.
Now that I’m older and have two children, I’ve been noticing a change to my skin. Especially around the eye area. Motherhood does that to you, I’m sure of it. All those sleepless nights and disturbed sleeping patterns are catching up on me and it’s showing!
I’ve always been a bit hesitant to try new products on my face due to sensitivity issues. But now that I can see that the Simple products are no longer benefiting me I thought it was high time to shake it up a little bit and venture into the world of Pixi.
I first heard about Pixi products back in January 2017, but was never really brave enough to try them in case they were harsh and I didn’t want to risk it. I heard a new range was being launched during the summer so I decided to try it out and see what it could do for my skin. When the new range eventually made its way into stores late September, I purchased the Pixi Retinol Tonic.
For those of you who are unsure what Retinol is, it’s a form of vitamin A which promotes skin cell renewal and collagen production, essentially it’s an anti-aging ingredient. When I first opened the bottle, I had to smell it. I was pleasantly surprised. I expected a chemical smell but instead got faint notes of lavender and rosemary. I use it the way I would have used the Simple toner, on a cotton wool pad. I wash my face in the morning now with just cold water, no face wash, and use the Retinol Tonic in lieu of the Simple toner. It feels cool on the skin and is instantly absorbed. A little bit goes a long way.
I have been using the Pixi Retinol Tonic for just under 2 months nows and I am extremely impressed. My skin is at its all time clearest and I haven’t had any nasty skin breakouts. My pores are reduced in size, skin tone is becoming more even but more importantly - I have noticed a significant reduction in the lines around my eyes, crows feet. All in, I’m noticing that I’m feeling confident with my bareskin.
I have now been converted to the Pixi skincare range. Alongside the Retinol Tonic I am also using the Pixi Rose Flash Balm. These two items paired together are wondrous! My skin has never felt or looked so good. I 100% recommend this range to anyone as an entry level to products containing retinol.
Please note there is a warning on the side of the Retinol Tonic to consult your Doctor prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing.
