Northern Ireland Opera is Northern Ireland's award-winning national opera company with a mission to bring the highest quality opera to the widest possible audience.
We have a strong emphasis on outreach and education projects, with workshops for secondary schools linked to our main productions right through to our 'Little Lullabies' singing sessions for children aged 0-2 and our 'Singing Explorers' event for primary school children on the North Coast at the end of August each year. If you are a teacher and would like to find out more about our projects for schools, especially our outreach week in Belfast, which this year will take place from September 9-13, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
In June 2019 we are bringing a children's opera, 'The Chronic Identity Crisis of Pamplemousse' by Greg Caffrey to six venues across Northern Ireland. This playful story about a grapefruit who thinks he's a mouse explores self-confidence and friendship and is aimed at children aged 7-11. Each 30 minute performance will let the children experience amazing singing supported by the fantastic Hard Rain Soloists Ensemble playing instruments as broad-ranging as a harp and a vibraphone. Before each performance, there'll be a fun, interactive workshop for children with craft and music to help them get the most out of the experience. We have extra resources for schools and youth groups too. Tickets are £5 for children and £7.50 for adults.
