Northern Ireland Opera is Northern Ireland's award-winning national opera company with a mission to bring the highest quality opera to the widest possible audience.

We have a strong emphasis on outreach and education projects, with workshops for secondary schools linked to our main productions right through to our 'Little Lullabies' singing sessions for children aged 0-2 and our 'Singing Explorers' event for primary school children on the North Coast at the end of August each year. If you are a teacher and would like to find out more about our projects for schools, especially our outreach week in Belfast, which this year will take place from September 9-13, please contact outreach@niopera.com

In June 2019 we are bringing a children's opera, 'The Chronic Identity Crisis of Pamplemousse' by Greg Caffrey to six venues across Northern Ireland. This playful story about a grapefruit who thinks he's a mouse explores self-confidence and friendship and is aimed at children aged 7-11. Each 30 minute performance will let the children experience amazing singing supported by the fantastic Hard Rain Soloists Ensemble playing instruments as broad-ranging as a harp and a vibraphone. Before each performance, there'll be a fun, interactive workshop for children with craft and music to help them get the most out of the experience. We have extra resources for schools and youth groups too. Tickets are £5 for children and £7.50 for adults.

The Oh Yeah Music Centre is a former bonded whiskey warehouse in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast's cultural district. It measures 14,500 square feet over three floors.

Oh Yeah was recognised as a charity in 2008. Since moving into the building in 2007, we have hosted live events with the likes of Elbow, The Undertones, Gary Lightbody, Ash, Duke Special, Two Door Cinema Club, General Fiasco, Lisa Hannigan, Georgie Fame, Foy Vance, Iain Archer, James Walsh from Starsailor, Wilko Johnson and Jello Biafra.

Our mission statement is: “Open Doors To Music”. We aim to be accessible to everyone. Oh Yeah is a charity and a social enterprise. We provide affordable rehearsal space and a venue that is amendable to under 18s. We have a permanent music exhibition, a café space, a privately run recording studio, a song writing room, various small office units for start-up businesses and areas where workshops, meetings and seminars are held.

The Oh Yeah vision was born in December 2005, from a conversation between Belfast music industry people and the band Snow Patrol. It was constituted in 2007. The belief is that music is one of the great resources in Northern Ireland, a catalytic agent that changes lives for the better.
