Calling all parents with children sitting either the GL or AQE or both Transfer exams this coming November 2019.

We all know how stressful it is during the run up of exams and in particular the day of exams. We as parents can be left feeling helpless in terms of what can we do to help our child during this pressurised time to perform to the best of their ability? A child can work extremely hard on the academic preparation for the big day of Transfer but on the day it can be nerves that can determine the ultimate result which may not be representative of true ability.

As a parent of a child who undertook the Transfer in 2017 and a second child preparing to sit the test in 2019 I completely understand the stresses and strains of preparing children for their first big test in life. Many children loose sleep, doubt their ability and become anxious in the run up to tests which can ultimately affect their performance on the day.

As a parent and a Relax Kids coach I have developed a 2 hour workshop to help your child learn relaxation skills to help performance, gain confidence and visualise success. The techniques can also help with improved sleep, better recall and improved focus and concentration- all important things when doing exams.

What will be covered:

✅How our brain works- why we cant think as clearly when we feel anxious and stressed.
✅What can we do to help our body and brain feel less stressed, so that we can think more clearly.
✅Learn and practice relaxation techniques including:
🔹️Stretches 🔹️Deep breathing🔹️ Self Massage
🔹️Positive affirmations 🔹️Mindfulness Meditation
🔹️Growth Mindset 🔹️ Power of Yet
✅Games and Crafts will also be used to make the workshop fun and relaxed and allow the children to bring some affirmation crafts home to help as a reminder that they can be calm and confident.

A handout will be provided so that parents can benefit from what the children have been taught. Parents will gain access to a closed parents FB group so that they can ask questions and have access to useful tips.

How to book:
There is a morning session on Wednesday 14th August 10.30-12.30 at Lagmore Community Centre.
There is an evening session on Wednesday 21st August 5.30-7.30 at Aisling Daycare Multi centre, Hannahstown Hill.

To book please fill in and submit your child's details on the below registration form:

https://form.jotformeu.com/RoisinRelaxKids/registration-form-CALMBEFORETHEEXAM

Please remember to indicate which venue/date you would like to book.

The cost of the workshop is £20, £10 deposit is required to secure your childs place payable by paypal or bank transfer. The remaining £10 can be paid on the day of workshop. Payment instructions are indicated at the bottom of the registration form.

NB. Places are limited and deliberately kept small groups so to ensure a relaxing ambience of the setting.
In the event of high demand additional workshops will be made available if necessary so if these dates don't suit feel free to contact me and you will be advised of additional dates if and when added.

Any further questions feel free to get in touch. Please do share this event and tag parents whos children are currently preparing for GL/AQE.

All the best, Roisin

RSVP: events@larchfieldestate.co.uk

Arriving through a large set of gates, you travel slowly along the drive surrounded by rhododendrons, wildflowers, fir trees and even some alpacas and miniature donkeys – the 1700’s Georgian mansion peeking though the greenery. Turning right, you come along towards the 1800’s stone stables, before your master of ceremonies greets you and warmly welcomes you to Larchfield Estate. Step out of the car, take a deep breath, and just take a little moment to take in the rustic surroundings, set deep in the heart of the County Down countryside and steeped in heritage and history. You are about to take a short walk to meet the one you adore, with your nearest and dearest friends and family just buzzing to witness the magical love between you both! Enjoy every single moment...

Two people, joining together during the ceremony of your choice in the rustic stables, or beautiful walled gardens – this is your day, and here at Larchfield Estate we are here to make it all happen! Helping you imagine the overall feel of the day, down to coordinating the finer details which make it personal to you, our one-wedding per day policy ensures that all attention is focused solely on you both – this is your day, and on this, your wedding day, the Larchfield Estate barn and gardens are exclusively yours.

Following the exchange of vows, join your guests for a sparkling glass, before exploring the breath-taking grounds for the most stunning photo opportunities. Take a stroll down to the fishpond lake, kept private for the happy couple, getting some more pictures taken along the way, before heading back towards the gardens, courtyard and orangery to re-join the craic with your guests just a few minutes away.

As the evening approaches, make your way towards the rustic barn, twinkling with fairy lights, and a scrumptious meal created using lots of fresh local produce waiting for you. Speeches from those who know you best, to make you all smile, laugh, and perhaps even shed a few tears (happy ones of course!), before hitting the dance floor and dancing the night away!

It doesn’t have to end there… wander back to the cosy 1800’s stone cottages, for a relaxed nights sleep, before waking up to a luxurious and filling breakfast. We also have options to continue celebrations a little longer, with a chilled post-wedding brunch or BBQ. After all, who wants the best day of your life to end too soon!

What do we do differently?
-One wedding per day policy
-Exclusivity for you and your guests
-Flexibility for everything from timing, ceremony style, to décor, catering and entertainment
-No corkage fees for prosecco & wine (for your drinks reception and dinner)
-Your full day in one location from ceremony, to dancing the night away
-Accommodation on site for 26 guests (increasing to 37 in Autumn 2019)
-Exclusive offers with some of NI’s top wedding suppliers
-Multi award winning wedding team to assist your planning from the moment of enquiry onwards
-Extensive grounds with indoor and outdoor photo opportunities
-We can assist with setting up your personal decor, and take it down the next day so you can stay in that magical bubble
-Next day wedding brunch available – continue the celebrations!

Already booked your wedding with us? Please do feel free to come along to have another look around the estate and chat to our team and suppliers about your plans! The perfect opportunity to think about those finer details ahead of your big day.

Mindfulness for Parents and Carers

6 Week Mindful Parenting Course

The course consists of six sessions. Each session lasts for 2 hours.
It is aimed at parents and carers of young children and young teens. During the course we will explore many aspects of parenting and how bringing mindfulness to our roles as parents not only enhances our own well – being and lives but also those of our children. There is emerging evidence that suggests that extending mindfulness into families can support both parents and children. As a parent we have many demands and commitments often resulting in increased stress levels and scattered minds. We find ourselves managing not only our own emotions but those of our children. Mindful parenting can help reduce parents’ stress and help them to be present to emotionally charged situations so that they can respond more wisely, be emotionally available and thereby enhance the well being of their children.

In this 6 week course you will learn how to be present for your children, how to be with difficulties without being overwhelmed and how to bring a sense of calm and ease to your own life and ultimately to your family life. We will explore practices that you can use at home with your children, designed to complement the adult practices that you will be learning each week.

This is a truly valuable course for any parent or carer. Mindfulness can be supportive for all parents and carers, helping them to be more in touch with their children, more connected, more present and less distracted by past regrets and future anxieties.

Cost: £175
includes a booklet of Kids’ practices with guidance and explanations for parents as well as adult practice notes.

Care fees, inheritance tax and contested wills are all increasing... so how much of your family wealth is protected?

The new Residential Nil Rate Band Allowance has not increased the Inheritance Tax threshold to £1 million! Government U-turns on a care fee cap means more families than ever are losing their wealth in care fees. More Wills are being contested, with legal fees and court costs eating into family wealth, whilst the UK continues to have the highest divorce rate in the EU.

This means more family wealth is being lost to the local authority, HMRC, excluded beneficiaries and the ex-son-in-law or ex-daughter-in-law!

Question: Can you legitimately stop your family wealth being lost to Inheritance Tax, divorce or moving outside the family bloodline etc?

Answer: Yes! At our upcoming free to attend Bloodline Planning Seminar, you can find out how to protect your wealth, so it passes down to the next generation in the safest, most tax-efficient way.

There are two sessions available to attend at 11.00am or 7.00pm. Places are limited.

To reserve your place, you can register via Eventbrite - https://protectingfamilywealth.eventbrite.co.uk

Alternatively, call us on 02892 605 088 or email events@fairstoneni.co.uk

These Educational Seminars are full of information, so don't miss out!! This event is open to friends, relatives, work colleagues and anyone who may find the information relevant and beneficial.

Refreshments will be provided. Sessions last for 1 hour 30 mins, with a break for tea and coffee and a chance to ask any questions you may have.

P.S. all seminar attendees will be entered into our draw to win a bottle of champagne!

OUR MISSION

We believe that every woman deserves to have the best opportunity for a straightforward and positive birth experience regardless of her method of birth.

Our conference aims to educate, raise awareness of and promote positive birthing in Northern Ireland. We want to provide opportunities for women and their supporters to become active players in their births, and in developing the services available in our health service and private sectors.

Our keynote speaker for 2019 is Michel Odent.

In order to help combat nerves, On Target Tuition are offering parents a mock Transfer Test on Saturday 12th October 2019. We try our best to make sure that our mock days do not clash with school Transfer Test familiarisation days. There will be two time slots to choose from, 10am and 1pm.

We will provide:
An unseen specially written paper which will test your child's ability in the Transfer Test curriculum. You can choose between AQE or GL styles.
Detailed feedback on their performance including a list of topics that your child needs to practise before sitting the real test.
The feedback given will be detailed and emailed to you within 3 working days. It will allow you to see clearly which questions and topics need revision and suggest any techniques that may help and highlight any bad habits. The feedback will include the questions from the test for your information. (Please note, as in the real test, the paper will not be taken home and remains in the possession of On Target Tuition. This test will be used by us in future years and we want it to remain unseen.)
We will recreate the feel of the actual test and give your child a realistic idea of what it will be like including getting them used to listening and carrying out the instructions of the invigilator.

We hope that the experience will put them at ease and mean that they approach the Transfer Tests confident and relaxed.
