  • Ingredients

    • Square baking tin, greased and lined
    • 85 grams of butter
    • 85 grams of light brown sugar
    • 3 tbsp of maple syrup
    • 110 grams of porridge oats
    • 30 grams of rice krispies
    • 40 grams desiccated coconut
    • 30 grams raisins/sultanas
    • 5 dried apricots sliced up
    • 10 glacé cherries quartered
    • 30 grams mixed chopped nuts
    • 100 grams of chocolate for melting (milk/plain/white – your choice) - for decoration
    • Yummy sugary decorations of your choice, the more the merrier - for decoration
  • Method

    1. Preheat oven to 180 (170 fan assisted)
    2. Heat butter, sugar and maple syrup in a pan
    3. When melted add in porridge oats and rice krispies until well coated
    4. Add all other ingredients (except those for decoration!)
    5. Coat well with the syrupy goodness
    6. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking tin
    7. Put in oven for about 20 - 25 minutes
    8. Once baked, let it cool in tin and leave it there for decorating
    9. Keep flap jacks in the baking tin
    10. Put 100 grams of chocolate into a microwavable bowl and heat on full power for 40 seconds. Remove from microwave and give it a stir. Heat again in the microwave on full power for 20 more seconds
    11. Pour melted chocolate all over the flap jacks
    12. Decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, hundreds and thousands, coconut, marshmallow, orange peel - anything you wish!
