Very annoyed toddler wakening from afternoon nap

For the past two weeks or so, our 2 year old has been extremely upset wakening up after his afternoon nap. Nothing seems to settle him. He goes into a screaming fit and shouts 'no Mummy!" at me. \r\n\r\nThe worst he has been was last Friday when he cried solid for almost 25 minutes. I couldn't do anything to help him. I offered him water, asked if he wanted hugs, kisses etc, tried to lift him to walk him about in my arms but he nearly head butted me in frustration. \r\n\r\nAfter his wee episode, he was perfectly calm and asked to watch Hey Duggee and was very affectionate.\r\n\r\nI don't remember going through this with my daughter. Have any of you gone or even going through this at all? Should I be worried?

My son use to do this at night he was having night terrors it was scary, use to scream and refuse to let me hold him. He's now 5 and I never did find out what they were about but they were forgotten not long after he woke up xx

Thanks Gemkin. It's very unsettling isn't it? He seems to be doing it after every sleep now. He's waking up naturally so it's not as if I'm going in and lifting him out of his sleep or anything. Hopefully it settles downs soon.

So today was a good day. He seemed to wake very happy. hopefully that's the start of him getting back to his wee self. Im thinking it might have been his big back teeth coming through or something. who knows though? Here's hoping tomorrow is good for him too.

well he seems to be grand now. He's been going to bed usual time of 7/7:30 and no kicking off. and when he wakes up he's back to his usual smiley happy self. Thank goodness. I was starting to dread putting him down for a nap knowing what he was going to be going through when he woke up. Poor wee dude. Oh Gemkin those night terrors sound scary.
